We Make Life Fun and Stimulating
To engage each resident in stimulating and meaningful activities, we tailor recreational plans to the resident’s interests, preferences and abilities. We revise these plans as abilities and interests change. A resident’s participation and engagement in group or one-on-one activities can be an important way to support independence, a sense of accomplishment, and a sense of self, and we encourage involvement with others. Family, friends and staff are welcomed and encouraged to join, or simply enjoy from a distance.
Werner, former Eden Gardens resident, and son Bayu Dharmasetia
The Chum Song
Werner’s son Bayu, and daughter Dewi, have shared fond memories of singing “The Chum Song” with their father since their childhood. This tradition continued into adulthood, with Werner often serenading his daughter Dewi’s children during their visits from France.
Words from Bayu “Even when Alzheimer’s continued to progress, he still could sing it with me. The last time I was able to talk with him, we sang it one last time. It still amazes me that it was music that was one of his memories that remained.”
