Skydiving for NTL

In June of this year, Skydive Vancouver Island generously donated a Tandem Skydive to Nanaimo Travellers Lodge (NTL) for NTL Beer and Burger silent auction. A dementia care home with 90 full time residents, NTL received the highest bid for the jump from one of its own personnel, who re-donated the prize to be auctioned off again. To raise more funds, NTL challenged its staff to raise new pledges to benefit their residents with dementia. Two very brave, adventurous staff members stepped up, offered to jump and raise the needed funds. Competing to raise the highest pledges, the two girls did so well that NTL struggled to determine a winner. Gladys Vandenbrink, Executive Assistant raised $460, while Carrie Duquette from Support Services with $411 followed close behind. So keen on jumping, Carrie decided to purchase a ticket to jump. They both flew through the skies at the Qualicum Beach Airport, on Friday October 28th. Some of the residents from NTL were bussed up to the airport to watch the excitement and they really enjoyed sharing in the fun.

Join us in celebrating our Elders in our very own Moments Matter Calendar. Featuring past movie and television themes, we have brought together Elders, staff, families and volunteers in our renditions of these classic shows. Our Elders were able to pick the themes they wanted to portray when we were looking for stars and starlets! Click our link to see the excitement.Calendar Casting Call
